Program taught by Black Belt Luke Wittasek. Luke brought Team Chitwood BJJ to Vanyo Martial Arts. Luke has been training at Team Chitwood with Shawn Chitwood, Craig Chitwood, and Neil Chitwood since 2008. The Chitwood brothers are all Black Belt professors under Relson Gracie.
BJJ is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks and choke holds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations. Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling” within the BJJ community) and live drilling play a major role in training and the practitioner’s development. BJJ is considered a martial art, a sport, a method for promoting physical fitness and building character, and a way of life.
Our BJJ Program is a great form of self-defense and a serious workout! Our classes also provide great personal protection and self-defense techniques to help you safely traverse today’s ever changing and sometimes dangerous society.
Schedule: Wednesday & Friday @ 7pm, Saturday 9-11am
